Embracing Embarrassment: The Price We Pay for Growth
- Class of 2026
Why worry if you begin with a rough start? When your ultimate aim isn't to stay there. Let us not forget that we're striving for the end outcomes, not to be stuck in the process. Allow yourself to evolve, make mistakes, learn, and progress towards greatness.

Later on in the future, we likely won't recall the stress of striving for perfection, but we'll remember the joy and excitement of seeing ourselves progress and improve. A crucial aspect of learning and becoming skilled at something is finding the real fun in the challenges. It adds value to everything.

One of the greatest qualities is persisting even when we're not initially good at something. So many people want to stop when they are not instantly pros, when it’s obvious that no one starts amazing at everything. Who knows?! Maybe we would never blossom into the person that we are gonna be tomorrow if we didn’t let ourselves look embarrassed today. If we're okay with ourselves, we'll realize that even though we look dumb learning something, it doesn't matter; we're no less. If we make a mistake and fail at something, it doesn't make us an inferior being or less of a person. If we don't get validation or approval from others, it shouldn't matter to us; we're still whole. So remember, it’s just the fear of looking stupid that's holding you back. Have a good hustle ahead, superstars! ✨
“If you aren’t willing to look like a foolish beginner, you’ll never become a graceful master.” -Ed Latimore.
