A Special Christmas Memory

Thinking back to my childhood, there's one Christmas that always warms my heart. I was just 8 years old, and it was a seriously cold winter. Our family gathered at my grandparents' place for Christmas Eve, and everyone was there: my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and a few family friends. We all dressed up nicely for the occasion.

The evening was spent around a big dining table filled with delicious food. The best part? The gifts waiting under the beautifully decorated Christmas tree and the sweet aroma of my grandma's freshly baked cupcakes with fancy icing.

After we enjoyed a hearty Christmas Eve supper, it was time for the highlight—exchanging presents, my favourite part of the holiday because we all believed in the magic of Santa Claus arriving from Finland on a sled pulled by reindeer. It added an extra touch of enchantment to the celebration.

When the clock struck midnight, the whole family, including my cousins and me, gathered to cut the Christmas cake. It wasn't just about the cake; it was about sharing the season's joy and strengthening family bonds.

As the years have gone by, a photo from that midnight celebration still sits in my wardrobe. It's a tangible reminder of the warmth and togetherness that define the Christmas season. It's these simple moments with loved ones that make Christmas truly special.
